AMERICAN PREDATORS

by Anthony Devellano

Some Crimes Trump Due Process

But how far is too far?

On the run from the cartel, the Figaro family of Mexico City crossed the border into Texas. Instead of the asylum they were optimistically seeking, their four-year-old twins were taken from them and the couple deported.

Four years later, it's President Donald Stump’s second term in the Oval Office, which he openly shares with President Vladimir Rupin of Russia. The KGB has replaced the defunded FBI, and Congress is in the process of rewriting the Constitution in favor of white supremacy and unlimited presidential terms.

Meanwhile, Jackal, the world’s biggest computer company, releases its latest artificial intelligent operating system, Icarus. The system uncovers a vast dark web conspiracy that has ensnared the Figaro children, among others.

Implicated is Boaty Godslawe, Hollywood’s most powerful producer by day, and worst predator by night. Due to his connections to the White House and his vast collection of kompromat on important people, Godslawe is impervious to legal repercussions, no matter how much evidence piles up against him.

Jackal hires Matthew Angelino, formerly of the CIA, to deal with Godslawe and his criminal cabal. With Matthew’s experience in torture interrogations and selecting targets for predator drones, his moral compass is sufficiently askew to hunt down the monster of the darknet.

When President Donald Stump steps in with his Twitter account and private security force, the situation goes from ugly to catastrophic.

READER REVIEWS

5 STARS - Joy Ross - December 9, 2018

"Highly Recommend: Set in 2021 during President Stump's second term, Anthony's debut novel is an intriguing, imaginative and fast-paced espionage thriller intermixed with sci-fi and political satire.

The main character, Matthew "Angel" Angelino, is a former CIA operative whose moral compass is somewhat askew. When a global tech company decides to use its resources to combat the worst criminals on the deep web, they hire Angel to lead the investigative team. Employing existing technology in creative ways, Angel and his team travel the world hunting prolific predators.

Reading American Predators caused me to ponder a few current political policies and deviant happenings that I prefer not to think about...but should. The subtitle is appropriate. "Some Crimes Trump Due Process." However, I pray that the government-aware (silently sanctioned) vigilantism Anthony foreshadows in his novel never comes true."

4 STARS - Phil McGirr - December 6, 2018

"Superb first novel: What a page-turner. Nothing is exempt from the literary scythe of Anthony Devellano. More twists than a strand of psycho DNA. Could be movie material."
